Yukon River

parked at 40 Mile, Yukon River

In 2014, I decided to follow the route of the Klondike Gold Rush miners and beyond to better understand the history of Alaska.

Just like the miners, I hopped a ferry north from the lower 48 to travel the inside passage all the way to Skagway, Alaska.  From there I hiked the Chilkoot Trail to Lake Bennett, paddled to Marsh Lake, and then down the Yukon River for 2,000 miles until I reached the Bering Sea.

Read more about the trip on the blog, or watch video episodes on my YouTube page.
