Kristin Gates is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and endurance athlete. She specializes in digital storytelling in the most remote and extreme conditions on the globe. She is an Explorers Club Fellow, a commercial drone pilot, and has experience running a green screen studio and live programming. Her clients have included Big Blue Flower, Defenders of Wildlife, the Sierra Club, the Cotsen Institute of UCLA, the World Land Trust, the Wild Tomorrow Fund, Nature Kenya, and many others. She is currently working as the cinematographer and editor for a museum in Boston.
Kristin has traveled hundreds of miles by dog team across the Arctic and Subarctic. She is best known for trekking solo across Alaska's Arctic on a 1,000-mile route through the Brooks Range that she mapped out herself. She also kayaked solo from source to sea down the 2,000 mile Yukon River. At the beginning of her long distance hiking career, she became the youngest woman to complete thru-hiking's 7,000+ mile Triple Crown and the first person to hike the completed Arizona Trail. She completed numerous other thru-hikes in the US, Sweden, and Greenland.
